      Office Typology

      There are five categories of WHO offices in countries, territories and areas (A–E) based on the support provided: Offices in category A provide policy support; those in category B offer targeted technical and strategic support; those in category C deliver moderate technical support; those in category D ensure full technical support, including emergency response; and those in category E provide comprehensive support, including field operations. Four offices do not currently have an assigned typology.

       

      Presence type

      For the purposes of the report on WHO’s presence in countries, territories and areas, offices are categorized into one of the following five presence types:”

      • WHO Country Office: Offices (142) that serve a single country.
      • WHO Country Office (also serving territories or areas): Offices (4) that serve one country and one or more territories or areas.
      • WHO Multi-Country Office: Offices (2) that serve two or more countries.
      • WHO Multi-Country Office (also serving territories or areas): Offices (3) that serve two or more countries and one or more territories or areas.
      • WHO Territory or Area Office: Offices (2) that serve either a territory or an area.
